Over the weekend of 9 to11 July, we marked our big 50th birthday with our 500 for 50 Challenge, aiming to cover 500 km in any way we can. Five hundred kilometres is the distance between our Centre in Surrey and our hubs in London, Oxford and Salisbury – give or take a few centimetres!
Between them, Andy, Lorraine, Sandra and Kevin covered a massive 447 km – amazing, especially as it rained really hard for most of the weekend.
So, we have 53 km to go. Could you help us reach that target?
That's just 33 miles to go.
To take part in this super challenge, you can choose to walk, cycle, scoot, swim, run, bounce, skip or skate any distance you like to help us reach our 500 km target. Get sponsored and raise money so that we can continue to support children and adults with dyslexia who need our help more than ever.
How to get involved
• Choose your activity based around the number five – so 5, 15, 25, 50, 500 and so on – you can do miles or kilometres, metres or yards! Rope in a friend or family member if you fancy it.
• Set up your personalised fundraising page through Virgin Money Giving and we will add you to our 50:500 Challenge totaliser!
• Share your page on social media by tagging @ArkellDyslexia and using #500for50challenge. Over the weekend we'll track how far we get between us on social media.
The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. We've extended the event to the end of August so you can join in wherever is convenient for you. If you would like to support us by making a donation, you can do so here.
Thank you so much from all of us at Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity – your support means a lot to us. If you would like to get in touch please email [email protected] – we'd love to hear from you.
