Supporting Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties – April 2023

This is a very practical course for teaching assistants or anyone supporting learners with dyslexia or Specific Learning Difficulties.
The course comprises six three-hour sessions on Fridays:
| Session 1 on 21st April | Overview of Dyslexia and SpLDs |
| Session 2 on 28th April | Introduction to Phonological Awareness and Phonics |
| Session 3 on 5th May | Learning Preferences and Multi-sensory Teaching |
| Session 4 on 12th May | Reading Accuracy and Comprehension |
| Session 5 on 19th May | Spelling and Writing |
| Session 6 on 26th May | Numeracy |
You will be shown lots of useful, tried and tested strategies to enable you to support learners effectively. You will also have the opportunity to make attractive, practical resources that you will be able to use with your learners.
This course is not accredited, so there are no assignments to complete.
You will receive a Helen Arkell Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course/session.
