Description
Syllable division is a strategy for breaking down longer words to help with decoding. Syllable Division starts with a consideration of short and long vowels and open and closed syllables, before setting out each of the five ways of dividing words: rabbit words, tiger words, lemon words, apple words and diamond words. By combining these aspects of syllable division, it can provide a convenient prompt for learners to refer to once the rules have been taught in detail.
