Laura de Mierre BA (Hons), Dip SpLD
Course tutor
Laura de Mierre works as a tutor on the Helen Arkell Level 5 Specialist Teaching Diploma course; she also works independently as a specialist teacher as well as being a Literacy Tutor at a school local to the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity teaching learners in both KS2 and KS3. This local school provides education for nearly 500 boys aged 8 to 18 who are intelligent but thrive in a specialist environment because of Specific Learning Difficulties, Developmental Language Disorder, Dyslexia and other associated special educational needs.
Prior to a career change into education brought about by starting her family, Laura worked for an international packaging company; a global airport operating company and a specialist sustainable procurement management consultancy. On moving into education, Laura first came across the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity when she studied a Level 4 course in Supporting Dyslexic Learners. She then went on to study the Level 5 Diploma and will soon be embarking on the Level 7 Specialist Assessor Diploma course.
Laura is thrilled to be part of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity team and to support its crucial work in helping learners to overcome barriers to learning in order to realise their potential
