Barrington Stoke Sponsors Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity Graduation Ceremony for 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that our 2025 Graduation Ceremony this September will be proudly sponsored by Barrington Stoke – the award-winning publisher making reading accessible for all!
With 25+ years of expertise in dyslexia-friendly publishing, their support celebrates our newest specialist teachers and specialist assessors and our shared mission, helping every child with the chance to become a reader.

Barrington Stoke is renowned for publishing short novels by some of the UK’s most celebrated authors.

Their expertly crafted books are designed to offer a quick, engaging win for confident readers, and a meaningful, achievable experience for those who face greater challenges. Their pioneering use of a specially designed font and carefully selected paper colour ensures that every title is super-readable and dyslexia-friendly, reflecting a mission closely aligned with our own.

“Watching our specialist teachers and specialist assessors graduate is always a deeply moving moment. Each one has worked incredibly hard to reach this point, and we know they’ll go on to change lives. Having Barrington Stoke sponsor this year’s ceremony means a great deal to us, not just because of their generosity, but because they truly understand the power of accessible reading. Together, we’re championing a future where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to read.”

Rooted in Community: Squire’s Garden Centre Supports Helen Arkell

Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity Named Charity of the Year by Squire’s Garden Centre, Badshot Lea

We are delighted to share that we have been selected as the Charity of the Year by Squire’s Garden Centre in Badshot Lea, near Farnham.

This exciting partnership was chosen by Squire’s staff, who are passionate about supporting the local community. We are incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm and commitment to our cause.

With the support of Squire’s customers and team, we look forward to raising vital funds to help us continue providing specialist support, advice, and information to people with dyslexia, as well as to parents, teachers, and employers.

In addition to fundraising, we hope to be able to collaborate on specific projects, benefiting from the time, skills, and expertise that Squire’s staff may offer. As part of our collaboration, we’re exploring ways we can offer the Squire’s team our workplace sessions, providing valuable insights into dyslexia and how to support those affected.

We’re excited to see this opportunity take root and flourish — helping us reach more people with dyslexia and make a lasting difference in their lives.

Celebrating Inclusive Culinary Creativity: Helen Arkell attends the launch of ‘Deliciously Dyslexic’

Last week we were thrilled to attend the launch of  Deliciously Dyslexic, a truly inspiring new cookbook by the talented by baldchefnick.

Designed with accessibility at its heart, this culinary gem is a game-changer for anyone who finds traditional cookbooks hard to navigate.

In the Great Kitchen at The Royal Pavilion in Brighton, Nick and fellow supporters welcomed staff from Helen Arkell to the launch which included some tasty nibbles and drinks, all from recipes inspired from the book. Following a very successful fundraising raffle on the night, we are pleased to say we have raised nearly £900 for Helen Arkell.

If you’re looking to support inclusive design and delicious food, this is one you won’t want to miss, and we think it makes an excellent birthday or Christmas present for all readers!

Deliciously Dyslexic is available to purchase from Amazon and all main bookstores.

Join Louise Selby at Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity on Monday 29th September for a Morph Mastery training course – a hands-on opportunity to explore effective ways of teaching spelling, reading and vocabulary through morphology.

Based on research, this course introduces ten adaptable strategies ideal for learners with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties. Designed for ages 9–13 (but easily extended to other age groups), the approach is structured, multi-sensory and flexible enough for classroom, group or one-to-one teaching.

To book please visit Louise’s webpage here.

About this Course

It is based on research into what works for learners with specific learning difficulties and dyslexia. It’s multi-sensory, structured and can be adapted and personalised. The intervention is aimed for ages 9 – 13 but the strategies can be used with a wider age range in groups and class.

This is a practical course in which you learn ten key strategies in Morph Mastery which you’ll be able to adapt to your setting, whether it is whole class teaching, group work, or 1:1.

Date: Monday 29th Sept 9:30 – 3:30
