The session, delivered by Dr Susie Nyman, will be a lively interactive presentation unlocking innovative tools and strategies to empower students with dyslexia to become grade risers and ace their examinations ultimately achieving stellar results way beyond their wildest dreams. The session will cover:
- Information based on Susie’s ‘How to Become a Grade Riser’ book and ‘Exam Task Board’ published by Oaka books
- Guidance based on Susie’s work as an OCR moderator, CPD trainer and class teacher.
- A showcase of innovative individualised easy-to-replicate strategies and routines developed in Study Support and in the classroom at The Sixth Form College, Farnborough.
- Amazing insights, tips, tricks, quick wins and take-aways from Susie’s recent ‘A standardized approach to exams’ SENDcast Podcast for GCSE and A Level students.
Susie is passionate about discovering how children learn and supporting them in ways which enable them to succeed. She was appointed in 1995 as an A Level Biology teacher at The Sixth Form College Farnborough, and subsequently as Curriculum Manager for Health and Social Care where she has worked ever since.
As an international speaker, podcaster, exam board moderator and CPD trainer, she thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences about Multi-sensory Teaching and working with SEND students. Additionally, she has been filmed by the BDA and Oaka Books in her own classroom; footage is currently available on YouTube.
She has published articles for BBC Bitesize, The BDA and The SEN Magazine. Her innovative methods have been published by Oaka Books in her ‘Multi-sensory Toolkit’ (purchasable here) as well as ‘How to Become a Grade Riser’ (purchasable here).
In recognition of over 29 years continued service at The Sixth Form College Farnborough, Susie has achieved a Pearson Lifetime Achievement Award. This is an honour of which she is immensely proud.
