Description

– This is a recorded session available on demand. Please note the recording is only accessible for 2 weeks after purchase –

We all know the benefit of being listened to well. When this happens in our lives, we feel valued and taken seriously. Relationships are strengthened, we feel understood and more confident about expressing ourselves.

Good listening can help remove feelings of shame. We are no longer alone with our worst fears, but know we have an ally to guide us through our trickiest times.

The same is true for children. It can be all too easy to intervene as they talk and rapidly come up with solutions to improve their situation, but listening well is another way to empower them.

This talk will include:

  • top tips for listening well
  • top tips for supporting dyslexic learners
  • why being listened to is so important for children with dyslexia
  • what we can learn by listening to children with dyslexia – how much they know that we don’t realise they know
  • what happens when we don’t listen to them
